Known as the precious gem of Da Nang city, Son Tra Peninsula located at Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District, 3 sides bordering the sea, the remaining side bordering the urban area. Only about 10km northeast of the city center, Son Tra Peninsula tourism attracts visitors with its beautiful large and small beaches, shady foresrts and diverse and rich natural forest ecosystems.

Regarding the history of Son Tra Peninsula, this place has been an island area with 3 mountains. Thanks to the coastal sea water carrying alluvium over time, these 3 mountains have been deposited into a strip of land  running from the mainland to the island, from there, forming the peninsula.

During the war, Son Tra peninsula was considered the “eye of Indochina”. And up to now, Son Tra is the most important deep-water port in the Central region, and is also the end point of the East-West economic corridor starting from Myanmar, ending in Da Nang.

As one of the three famous pagoda in Da Nang, Linh Ung Pagoda is a place not to be missed when coming to Son Tra Peninsula. Located halfway up the mountain, Linh Ung Pagoda has a majestic, sophisticated architecture, harmoniously combining tradition and modernity.

The most important and prominent highlight of Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra Peninsula is the largest statue of Buddha in Vietnam. The pure white,majestic statue, with its back facing the mountains, its face facing the sea, one hand in the Tam Mui seal, the other holding a vase of nectar to bless fishermen. Son Tra Peninsula not only has sea but also mountains. One of the activities that attracts tourists is the journey to climb about 700m from the foot of the peninsula to the top of Ban Co. From this position, visitors can see the whole bustling city in the distance.

One of the unique and sacred features on Son Tra Peninsula is the thousand-year-old banyan tree about 10km from Linh Ung Pagoda. This banyan tree is estimated to be over 1,000 years old, with a very large trunk and canopy. The tree is considered a living witness to the history and culture of the peninsula, and is also a source of spiritual energy for local people. The special thing about this banyan tree lies in its drooping roots, penetrating deep into the ground, creating an extremely rare and eye-catching scene.
