1. Location My Son Sanctuary in Vietnam?

My Son Sanctuary situated in Duy Phu Commune, Duy Xuyen District, Quang Nam Province, is estimated to have more than 70 towers built from the 7th to the 13th century. The center is near the ancient citadel of  Tra Kieu, this is the land where the Champa dynasty held ceremonies and sacrifices, and also a place of refuge even though the capital could not be invaded. My Son Sanctuary was continuously renovated and newly built throughout the Champa Dynasty over many centuries. So each worship tower at My Son Sanctuary bears its own unique historical and architectural.

The most prominent common feature of the tower is the quadrilateral base structure, and the main worship of Shiva – the god of creation and destruction of Hinduism. Clearly reflecting the development of Champa culture, My Son relic site brings visitors closer to the life, religion and ancient civilization, as well as understanding the values and aesthetics of the Cham people at that time

The tombs and temples in My Son Sanctuary are a convergence of many unique architectural styles and carvings: From the ancient styles of the 7th century to the Hoa Lai style (early 9th century), the Dong Duong style (late 9th century – early 11th century).

Despite the upheavals of history and the decline of many structures, My Son Sanctuary still retains many towers bearing the imprints and motifs of the golden age of the Champa dynasties.

The museum displays many posters and pictures explaining the history of My Son Sanctuary

It is important to note that the museum closes at 5:00pm, so you should visit the museum in advance.

2.3 Inspiring Apsara Dance in My Son Sanctuary

In addition to explore the spectacular architecture, visitors can also enjoy traditional Cham dances at My Son Sanctuary. The Apsara dance of the Cham people is likened to the dance of fairies serving the gods, with slow gentle and graceful movements.

Bus fares range from 8,000 VND to 30,000 VND. While this option is more economical, it is important to note that the bus journey takes longer than alternative means of transport.
